Dr. Grisham is a board-certified obstetrician who trained at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. UTMB is the only tertiary care referral hospital which services the entire state of Texas and surrounding areas, so any high-risk or complicated obstetric patient from around the state could be referred to the institution. Additionally, he staffed high-risk satellite clinics in underserved areas whose patients would also deliver at the university hospital. This environment provided extensive training in all aspects of not only low-risk obstetrics, but also, high-risk and critical care obstetrics, operative vaginal delivery, ultrasonography, and multiple gestation.
Dr. Grisham is passionate about providing comprehensive, personal service to his obstetric patients and their families. Unless he is out of town, you will see him for every appointment including sonograms, and he encourages dads and other family members to attend prenatal visits as well.
“I absolutely love the obstetric part of my practice. The relationship between the obstetrician and the pregnant patient and her family is truly special and unique, even within the field of medicine. Being able to participate in some of the most cherished moments in their lives is an honor, and I enjoy it immensely. I have the opportunity to bond with the entire family throughout the pregnancy, and that’s one of the reasons I do almost all of my own deliveries. I don’t want to run the whole race with them and miss the last lap!”
Dr. Grisham is pleased to accommodate whatever type of delivery plan the mother desires provided that it doesn’t endanger her or her baby. From drug-free vaginal deliveries to elective c-sections, Dr. Grisham has worked with a wide variety of birthing plans and strives to give each mother the birthing experience she desires.
