Dearest patients and families:
Thank you all so very much for all of your kind words, warm wishes and expressions of affection and appreciation. Over the last several weeks so many of you have come by to share stories, gratitude, hugs and tears. You have touched me deeply and have made me feel like the luckiest man in the world. There is not a greater gift all of you could have given me than sharing with me all of these thoughts and stories about how I have touched your lives and what I have meant to you and your families.
I hope I am at least somewhat successful in being able to communicate to you that everything you say that I have meant to you, you and your family have meant to me in more than equal measure. I never could have imagined the extent to which your having allowed me to care for you and your families would enrich my life. It has been the most tremendous blessing and I cannot thank you all enough. As I have shared before, caring for you and your families has been the honor and privilege of a lifetime.
As I have shared with many of you, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if I can ever be of service to you. Please call, text, or email me here through our website and let me know how I may help you. Or, if you just want to let me know how you are doing and share a new story about your family, I would love to hear from you; I am here for you.
Some logistics as we continue this transition: The management company, Privia, has ownership and is custodian of your medical records. They have provided the following contact information for my patients to request their records. They ask that you send a release of records request:
By email:
medicalrecords@priviahealth.com
or by fax to:
202-403-3099
Having said that, in addition, I am going to request of Privia and I am hopeful they will accommodate my providing a copy of the records themselves to Dr. Garner so that for those of you who are going to transfer your care to him, he will already have them (as an additional designated custodian) thus sparing many of you the task of having to request the records via a release request. This process sounds like it will take several weeks, so in the interim, wherever I am able to assist in accommodating requests I am planning to do so.
I shared in my previous notification my recommendation of Garrett Garner, M.D. for your general OB/GYN needs. I also would like to share some names of some of the other physicians I recommend for other needs you may have. Their names and specialties are included below:
Urogynecology: Aimee Nguyen, M.D.
Gastroenterology: Adnan Badr, M.D.
Plastic Surgery: Landon Perry, M.D.
Colorectal Surgery: Jennifer Lowney, M.D.
Pediatrician: Monica Herrera, M.D. and Laurie Berger, M.D.
Urology: Joe Scales, M.D.
Gynecologic Oncology: Alan Munoz, M.D. and Arlene Garcia-Soto, M.D.
If you ever have a question about a referral, please let me know. I am happy to continue to help in this area, also.
Finally, in case any of you missed the email notification of my closure of my practice I have included it below:
Dearest patients and families,
After having delivered my first baby almost 31 years ago (a baby girl on my little sister’s birthday) and 25 years of private practice here in Dallas I am writing to share with you that I am closing my practice here in Dallas.
Many of you know that my wife’s responsibilities in her career have increasingly required her to work out of state and she has been commuting on an almost weekly basis over the last year to attend to her work. Although there have been tremendous and ever-increasing challenges in the business of the private practice of medicine, we have met those challenges head-on and continued to thrive so that we could continue to take care of our patients. Having said that, trying to meet those challenges while at the same time living apart from my family is simply not a sustainable, long term option. As such, we have made the decision to close my practice at the end of February. My last day in the office seeing patients will be February 23, 2024.
I have made arrangements with a physician for whom I have the greatest respect to assume care of my patients. I have known Garrett Garner, M.D. for almost 25 years. He is a very personable and experienced physician with a great bedside manner and skill set. I am confident that the patients who have chosen me as their physician will like Dr. Garner as well. I have been working with Privia to ensure that both I and my patients have continued access to their records so that we may facilitate transfer of records to whichever physician my patient chooses and help facilitate continuity of care.
It has been the privilege of a lifetime to have had the opportunity to provide your medical care and to have been invited into your lives at some of the most cherished and exciting moments of your lives but also sometimes during some of your most challenging times. The relationships I have had with you and your families have enriched my life beyond description and I will relish them for the entirety of the rest of my life. After the office closes I will continue to be available to you through our website and also, at least for a period of time, through the Privia patient portal and Athena. I wish you and your families continued health and happiness and if there is ever anything I can do to be of service to you and your family please do not hesitate to reach out.
Warmest regards,
Dr. Grisham
Thank you again for almost a quarter-century of giving me the privilege of caring for you and your families. I wish you all health, happiness and prosperity.
With great love and affection,
C. Keith Grisham, M.D.
(a.k.a. “Dr. G”)
